Why a bar takes six weeks
The oils
Olive first, coconut for the lather, shea for what stays on the skin. No palm, ever.
The loaf
Lye mixed outside in the cold, stirred in, poured into a wooden mould and put to bed under a towel for a day.
The cut
Turned out and cut with a wire the next morning, which is why no two edges match.
The cure
On a slatted shelf, turned once a week, until the bar is hard and mild.
The band
Wrapped in paper with the oils printed on the back, the way it leaves the bench.
Build a box
Pick any three bars, add a dish that drains, and a card with your words on it. The price adds up as you pick, and the box is wrapped in paper.

Which bar for my skin?
Dry skin: the unscented olive bar or the oat and honey. Oily or blemish-prone: sea clay and charcoal. Sensitive: unscented, and nothing with a scrub in it. If you are not sure, the unscented bar suits almost everyone, and it is the one we send as a sample.
Why does a bar cost more than one from the supermarket?
Olive oil, shea butter and essential oils cost what they cost, and every bar sits on a shelf for six weeks before it can be sold. A bar lasts four to six weeks in the shower, which is about the price of a coffee a week.
How long does a bar last?
Four to six weeks for one person, if it sits on a dish that drains. Left in a puddle it goes soft and lasts half that.
