What holds it together
- Canvas
- 18 oz cotton duck, left plain or waxed in the workshop, lined with unwaxed cotton. No plastic anywhere in the bag
- Bartacks
- A dense block of stitches, boxed and crossed, wherever a strap or a handle meets the bag. It is the part that takes the weight
- Thread
- Bonded polyester, size 69, on a walking-foot machine that pulls the cloth through evenly
- Hardware
- Solid brass buckles and rivets, unplated. They darken with the leather

Cut to you
Pick the bag and give your height: the strap is cut so the bag sits at your hip rather than your knee, and punched with two spare holes. Up to three initials are stamped into the leather tab. The price shows before anything is cut.

Is it waterproof?
Waxed, it is water-resistant: it sheds a shower and a wet pavement, not a river. Plain canvas dries fast and softens sooner. Nothing inside is lined with plastic, on purpose.
Will my laptop fit?
The litres in the name give the size, and the list above says what goes in each bag. A 13-inch laptop fits the messenger and anything bigger; a 15-inch wants the rucksack.
Can I wash it?
Not in a machine. Brush it dry, sponge marks with cold water and hang it to dry. A waxed bag gets a new coat on the corners when they go pale, with a tin of wax and a hairdryer.
