Pick the plant, then the pot
Choose a plant, then the planter it arrives in: the size in centimetres, a hole and a saucer or a closed cachepot, and the glaze. The price follows as you choose, and it is potted the day before it is posted so the soil has settled.
Which window it wants
Low light
A north window, or a corner two metres back from the glass. The ZZ and the spider plant are happy here and want watering when the top two centimetres are dry -- about once a fortnight.
Bright, indirect
Near a window but out of the beam. Most of what is on this page lives here: the alocasia, the syngonium, anything variegated. Water weekly in summer, half that from November.
Full sun
A south sill, and nothing between the plant and the glass. The aloe and the jade only. Water when the pot is light in the hand, and hardly at all in December.
Before it is posted
Will it survive the post?
Plants leave Monday to Wednesday only, so nothing sits in a depot over a weekend. The pot is wedged in the box, the soil is covered and the leaves are wrapped in paper. Unpack it the day it arrives, put it somewhere bright and leave it a week before you judge it.
Can I buy the pot on its own?
Yes, every planter is in the shop by itself with its saucer. Measure across the top of the nursery pot you already have and go one size up, not three: the roots want to fill it first.
What about winter?
From December to February plants travel in a lined box and only in a week without frost. If the forecast is bad the order waits and you get a message saying so, which is better than a box of blackened leaves.
Is it safe around a cat?
The product page says so for every plant. On this page: the spider plant and the aloe are fine, the alocasia and the syngonium are not, and the ZZ is best kept up high.

The November cuttings list goes up at seven in the evening. About thirty plants, one or two of most of them.
How the release works
Everything on the list is a rooted cutting off a plant in this house, photographed the week before it goes up. When one is gone it is gone, and the next list is a month later.
The list goes to the people below an hour early, because that is the only fair way to sell twelve of something.
